how do we make the discussion page more email-like and intuitive?

discussion forum is a listserv; posts are emails

can the discussion forum with notifications really function like a listserv,

or are they two different animals?

adding another comment to see if I get notification emails

My discussion notifications are active for both leslie test1 user and lesliemeehan admin. 

Will I get an email for each account for this post??

discussion post results - now test author notification

lesliemeehan got an email; leslie test1 did not.

is that because leslie test1 was the author and doesn't have her author notification set?

let's reply from lesliemeehan who does have author notification set and see what happens.
